Memorial Day

I have no pictures to prove it but Bryan and I did have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. First, we got to help Clint & Alesa and Ann & Luke a little with their new houses. Well...Bryan did at least. I am ashamed to say that tried to help Ann but was so exhausted that I ended up falling asleep on their couch...and I'm not even pregnant so I can't use that as an excuse.:)

That night we headed to Lafayette for Kait's graduation and open house on Saturday. It was a great day. So many friends and family came and it was wonderful to see people we haven't seen in forever, hang out and talk, eat Mom's great food, and of course celebrate Kait.

After the open house, we drove up to Lake Wawasee and spent Sunday and Monday there with Bryan's family. Javon was able to come before heading to HIS Ranch in MI on Tuesday for the rest of the summer. Nick was also able to make it all the way from WI. Mark and Sue, Bryan's aunt and uncle were there as well and added to the fun. We got to play 8-man euchre (I didn't even know that was possible). The boys beat the girls but it was fun nonetheless. We also got to take a leisurely evening boat ride, which was great until Bryan's side of the boat was attacked by an army of strange little bugs.:) Other than that, we did a lot of talking and a lot of laying out by the pool. I was so excited to sit out in the sun that I didn't listen to Bryan when he said we were getting burnt. Turns out he was right. (not the first time):) But it was worth it to actually feel like I was on summer break.

Now we're looking forward to Hilton Head...our next vacation.:) Only 2 1/2 more weeks, hooray!

Summer Plans

So what did I decide to do this summer?

Well, I am officially a full-time communications intern for the next three months...with my very own cubicle. Woohoo! I am working for the communication department at a big and busy church in Avon.(about 2400 members) They have a lot of projects to be done this summer so I will be getting an abundance of wonderful experience with all kinds of things.

I started Monday and am already working on pamphlets, press releases, a big anniversary magazine that will be coming out at the end of the summer, weekly bulletins, the website, etc. Their website is pretty cool...and my name is now on the staff contact page, which is also pretty cool.:) (Check it out: http://www.kingswaychurch.org/staff.html)

So far it's been a little overwhelming but I love the people and I know it will be a great challenge. I'm so used to being a student that it's strange to do anything else. This is also the first time I have ever worked full-time and I'm not completely sure yet how I feel about it.:) Not to mention that I have to dress up...which is not my favorite thing in the world.

Oh well, I should probably get used to all that. Plus, It will help me understand a little more of what Bryan goes through every day.:) He's a champion!

Book List....

One of my summer goals is to read a lot. I realized that in all the busyness of school and life I had neglected my love of reading. After this realization I decided that this summer would be the perfect time to catch up a little. Therefore, I'm now in the process of putting together a summer book list and would love some ideas. So if you have any favorites let me know. New, old, fiction, nonfiction, Christian...whatever you've read and loved.

Thanks!

Happy times are here again

Hooray! Jen, Luke and Luca are here for the week! We're trying to pack in as much fun as we can in five days.:)

An extra bonus is the fact that SCHOOOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER! No more papers, no more exams, no more driving to Purdue...until August.

I'm not yet sure what my summer work plans will be...I'm in the midst of making those decisions now, so I'll probably be giving an update on that soon.

In the meantime...I hope everyone else has an equally splendid week!
