Little Orphan Owlet

Look at this fuzzy surprise that we found in the back yard. I really wanted to pick it up to see just how fluffy it was, but I resisted. It was a little harder to hold Cetty back. The poor thing was so exhausted from being awake in the middle of the day that it couldn't keep its eyes open. I hope it survives to become a big grown up owl, but I'd say the odds aren't good. It's such a cruel world.

Another Residency Come and Gone

As always, residency was an intense rush of…everything. Learning, old friends, new friends, challenges, independence, enlightenment, restaurant food, missing family, late nights, endurance, and all sorts of wonderfulness.

I took very few pictures this time around. But what I do have are some special favorites.
Favorite view of the Brown Hotel lobby from my favorite little study nook.

Favorite secret passageway on campus (through the pretty arches)

Favorite quiet place to sit on campus with the biggest, most beautiful tree.

Favorite night at the hotel...watching Roy (faculty) play the piano while Erin and Nicole (alum and classmate) sang their hearts out. Even more entertaining was watching them be lectured by the hotel manager for being too wild for the Brown. Also of note: My current mentor for this semester is on the far right (Fenton Johson).

And some favorite Spalding friends (Liz and Farah)…our trio goes all the way back to residency in Italy.

My hope is to graduate in Greece next summer (crossing my fingers!), so this may have been my last residency at the Spalding campus in Louisville. Thankfully alums are always welcome to visit, so I plan to come crash the party many more times in the years to come.
