I just want to take a moment to say what a darling Poppy has been these past few weeks.
I was worried about how she would handle having another little girl around the house. It's not an easy transition, especially for a dramatic, attention-loving 2 1/2 year old. But I am so proud of her. She has been quite the big sister.
Putting in Lucette's pacifier when she cries, asking to hold her, making sure she has a blanket, giving her lots of kisses, giggling over a funny sound or face expression that she's making, coming over without even being asked when I'm changing another diaper so she can hold "Baby Cetty's" onesie back from the mess...it has been very sweet to watch.
Of course she has had her less than flattering moments. Taking care of a newborn isn't all sunshine and roses. But overall, she has been surprisingly patient, loving, and mature as we try to find our routine and figure out how to be a family of four. And for that I am very thankful.
And just because it made us laugh...
Before dinner a couple of nights ago:
Poppy: "Dear Jesus, thank you for the food and for Mama and Daddy..."
Lucette: *Sudden burst of loud wailing*
Poppy: "Oh dear...Amen."
(A typical Poppy prayer usually lasts a good two or three minutes while she names everyone and/or every random thing she can think of and then repeats the same list another few times)
P.S. Bryan and I have now started saying "Oh dear...Amen" when faced with a particularly trying turn of events.
